Pauline Plumb
Born 1949, Australia
Lives and works in Sydney (AUS)
Pauline Plumb has been an artist for several decades, developing from watercolors and ceramics into photo media, object installation and sculpture. Pauline graduated in 2004 from Sydney College of the Arts with a Bachelor of Visual Arts (Sculpture), and Master of Studio Art (with Honours) and has participated in many group exhibitions. Her first solo show opened in early 2006. Commissions include both national and international clients.
Pauline works from a studio space in St Peters. The focus of her work comes from the everyday, both spiritual and experiential. Having grown up in a rural mining area, this has greatly influenced her art. Her exploration of comparative religion and the phenomena of light and dark continue in a manifestation of installation and projection. Photography plays a large part of her daily documentation to assist in the understanding and development of her works.
2008-2010 Pauline traveled extensively spending 6 months in Tuscany and traveling throughout Russia and France and Italy gaining inspiration. Highlights included seeing Monumenta by Boltanski at the Grand Palais, Robert Doisneau (Du métier a l'oeuvre) and CAMERA WORK - The photography of Stieglitz, Steichen and Strand from Europa to America.
